Open House

We went to Open House this evening at Chris’s Middle School.  This is an annual ritual that the school has.  First it was the Elementary Schools, today was the Middle School… and I heard that it’s carried through to the High Schools too.
Sitting, if even for just a few minutes in each of Chris’s classes [...]

Giants Among Men

The New York Football Giants opened defense of the Super Bowl Championship tonight.  Unlike the last time they defended, they won   I didn’t see the entire game, but what I saw looked solid.  Go Big Blue!
I’m watching the Republican National Convention right now… John McCain is giving his acceptance speech to represent the [...]

The Children Returneth

And so the cycle is complete.
Now let’s repeat this about 220 more times…
All homework done on time.
Acing all the exams.
Projects planned out, milestoned determined and adhered to.
Joining a few after-school clubs.
Making more friends.
Staying healthy.
And most importantly, NEVER missing the bus in the morning

The Busman Cometh

And the children goeth.
Now it’s so quiet in the house.
Too quiet

One More Day

24 little hours.
1440 long minutes.
An eternity in seconds.
School bus pulling up to the curb.  Priceless.

Growing Up Is Hard…

On the parent of a child.  Wasn’t it just yesterday I was feeding you a bottle, and changing your diapers?  Today you lost your first tooth and bought your first backpack in preparation for your first day in Kindergarten.  What will tomorrow bring?  I shudder to think.  But, I’m hiding the car keys just in [...]

The Dog Days of Summer

There comes a time in a New Yorker parents life, when all they want to hear from their children is…

It might still seem like an eternity away, but fear not dear weary mother’s and father’s the day of reckoning will soon be upon us.
I think the first thing we’ll do when that school bus disappears [...]

Please Don’t Tell Me It’s NOT Thursday!

Dangnabbit… just realized it’s STILL Wednesday.  No time off for the weary.  Think.  Think.  Think.  I need another clue, Blue.  BTW, Did you know that Blue was a “she”-dog?
Tomorrow is Chris’s big school trip to New Jersey… Having lunch at Medievil Times as well as other stops on his itinerary.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate [...]
